Winehouse’s appeal Accepted by Norway Court
Feb 29, 2008
Amy Winehouse, the winner of 5 Grammy awards this year, who is in the wrong end of her personal life, has been granted a postponement of hearing of the Marijuana procession case by the Norway District Court. The singer from Britain, who is sailing in troubled waters with her marriage to Blake Fielder- Civil, is unable to appear for hearing, as her husband is currently serving his sentence in London for charges of having a brawl in a pub. According to the rules of the Norway court, all parties involved in a case should come in person before the court and special permission is needed for one party appearance.
In Amy’s case, she, her husband as well as her hair dresser, Alex Foden were arrested and fined for marijuana possession on October 18th in Bergen. They got released by paying a fine of $715 each, the next morning. But, later Winehouse complained that she was misled by the police about signing the papers for paying the fine. In Norway, paying the fine is like accepting the accusation. The Norway police are of opinion that she was given proper information with the help of a translator. Her lawyer, Ole Kvelstad, confirmed the postponement of hearing of her appeal.
