Kelly Clarkson to sing “Ave Maria” for Pope
The first ever American Idol, Kelly Clarkson, who is now one of the popular pop artists in the country, will be signing ‘Ave Maria’ to Pope Benedict XVI at St. Joseph’s Seminary in Yonkers on April 19th. Clarkson will also perform in a concert at the Yonkers seminary grounds that will lead up to the Vatican City Pope Benedict’s late afternoon address to the masses. An estimated number of 20,000 young people are said to be at the stadium grounds for the concert and to hear the Pope’s address. The pop superstar, Kelly Clarkson will render her song in true Catholic style and she knows all about it as she is a Catholic.
Kelly Clarkson who shot to fame in the year 2002 after becoming the first American Idol winner has so far released three CD’s and has sold approximately 19 million copies worldwide. Irish singer Dana, jazz artist Harry Connick Jr and guitar maestro Jose Feliciano are all slated to perform at the Yankees stadium the following day to an audience of over 60,000 before the Pope Benedict addresses them in a mass. Clarkson who will be on a tour of Europe is slated to perform at Belgium, Sweden, Netherlands, Finland, Britain and Germany and will only return to the US days before making her Yonkers debut.
