Ani DiFranco Rocks San Diego

The widely acclaimed feminist, singer, song writer and the Grammy award winner Ani DiFranco gave an electrifying performance at the concert held in Humphrey’s by the Bay in San Diego last Wednesday. She started her show with her biggest hit “Not a Pretty Girl” and also covered songs from various earlier albums, much to the thrill of her fans. The new percussionist member in her tour, Mike Dillon, helped to add freshness to her songs with the Jazz effect. Rendering of “Two Little Girls” “Shameless” and “Untouchable Face” made the audience feel that the show was worth the ticket rates. Early in the evening, the show was opened by singer Martyn Joseph.

Coldplay enthralls audience at the free show in Madison Square

Coldplay did a seventy minutes long free show at the Madison Square Garden in New York on June 23rd night. This rock group has many commercially successful albums to their credit and wanted to promote their new album “Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends.” Coldplay thanked the public for making it the No 1 album in the Billboard Hot 100. The show was not exactly perfect as the singers forgot the lyrics and stuttered but, the crowd excused the mistakes as they didn’t pay anything for the ticket. The group also rendered some old hits to make the crowd happy.

Alter Bridge’s touring to promote album “Black bird”

Alter Bridge, the Rock quartet, will hit the road this summer to promote “Black bird’’, the sophomore album of the group. The group is scheduled to do some festival appearances as well as concert performances through the months of July and August. Alter Bridge is planning a European tour as well after August. Alter Bridge was formed in the year 2004 and was able to release the debut album in the same year. Black bird was released in 2007 after overcoming many hurdles. The record label for this album was done by Universal Republic. The tickets for the concert shows of Alter Bridge are on sale to the general public.

Sheryl to do 11 shows in Canada

 Sheryl Crow announced the launch of her Canadian tour on September 23 from Kingston. Sheryl Crow, who started her American trek in April, has completed her first segment in U.S and is scheduled for European jaunt from June 24. After her European shows, she will return to U.S for a five week tour with James Blunt and the ticket sale for this event has started in May. Sheryl had won the Grammy nine times and most of her albums were able to bag platinum certification. Sheryl is publicizing her album “Detours” through this summer tour and she will be accompanied by her 1 year old adopted son. 

Duran Duran makes pop debut in Louvre

The veterans of British pop Duran Duran performed their first ever pop concert at Louvre under a Pei designed pyramid last Tuesday night that captivated the entire audience and left them spell bound. The magic hip hop stars of the 80’s were in buoyant mood during the concert in Paris and the show was organized to raise funds to renovate and reopen the decorative art gallery of Louvre in three years. The tickets to Duran Duran’s shows are mostly sold out and the French people supported the organizers to the fullest in this noble cause of revival of 18th century art.

Carrie Underwood is on tour this summer!

Country Super star Carrie Underwood is on tour this summer.  Her tour started right after her American Idol performance, and right after her second straight Top Female Vocalist win at the Academy of Country Music Awards.  She will be performing at the Bi Lo Center, Sovereign Center, and the BJCC Arena in Birmingham.  You can see all Carrie Underwood tour dates here.  I already have my tickets and I can wait to see this bombshell perform live!

A gala musical event at the Giants stadium

The mega line up of artists for the annual Summer Jam concert organized by New York’s radio station Hot 97 at the Giants Stadium in East Rutherford enthralled the capacity crowd with breathtaking music and acts. The concert featured performances from Alicia Keys, Lil Wayne, Kanye West and T- Pain and was meted with thundering applauses from the audience. Their music got the crowd going early and formed a platform for one of the most enjoyable evenings for everyone present in the stadium. The two day fest had performances by LL Cool J, Jim Jones, Method Man, DJ Khaled, Wu Tang Clan members as well. The music enthusiasts who had bought tickets to watch these stars perform really got their money’s worth.  

Valient Thorr to tour US from July

The Valient Thorr is all set to undertake a 30 or more days’ tour of U.S starting this July in a bid to promote their fourth album. The U.S concert tour kicks off on July 14 with a performance at Portland’s Hawthorne Theater and will finish at Troubadour in California on August 15. The big bearded Valient Thorr band will be covering places like Chicago, Minneapolis, Orlando, New Orleans, Detroit, Washington and Denver and the fans can purchase the tickets through various ticket-selling websites. The band’s latest album “Immortalizer” is slated for a June 17 release and the good reviews that it has received from the music fraternity will augur well for their concert tour.

Times New Viking summer trek unveiled

Times New Viking have recently announced their summer tour itinerary which they are undertaking in support of their January released new studio album “Rip It Off”. The indie rocker trio will be performing in 29 centers and will be taking centerstage mainly in clubs and small theaters all through the month of June and July. The Times New Viking is slated to start their summer trek at Bloomington, IN on June 4th and will wrap up their summer concert tour on July 20 at Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago. Any music fan who has heard the good reviews that the group has garnered over the years will be rushing to the ticket counters to seize their tickets well in advance.
