With all the crap categorized under “rock” nowadays, any true music fan should have the noose ready, the knives out and sharpened. But right when you thought the industry had been taken over by no-talent robots (albeit very good looking ones), you must realize that rock and roll isn’t dead yet- The Black Crowes are still on tour with their Warpaint on.  That’s right, it’s reassuring to know there are bands out there battling hip-hop and pop punk with blues-inspired 1970’s guitar riffs influenced by CCR, The Band, and Led Zeppelin. After having played with classic rock legends a la Bob Dylan, The Who, The Grateful Dead, and Neil Young, The Black Crowes are finally en route to becoming rock legends of their own. Their current tour, “Euphoria or Bust” will continue on through December. Browse through The Black Crowes tour dates and see if any work for you.

I guess it’s true, grunge is back. No matter how much I wanted to avoid the flannel, the dyed hair, the industrial army boots, the new Beverly Hills 90210-the early 90’s is officially back. Since Kurt Cobain of Nirvana couldnt be brought back to life to hop on tour, the other grunge Gods, The Smashing Pumpkins, have reunited for a fall tour. Find out more information here.

Jason Mraz sings, dances, and steals things.

Jason Mraz took a break from the music scene in order to live a normal life. Turns out, a career in the pop music world sucks all the normal out of anyone, I mean, take a look at the King of Pop- Mr. Michael Jackson. What came out of Mraz’s mini-hiatus was not a series of lawsuits or nosejobs, but an intense self-empowerment which he thoughtfully recorded on his new album, We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things, which according to Mraz contains “real songs”. If you are a fan of light hearted, airy, catchy, and freshly self-realized pop tunes then this is the man you want. Jason Mraz is going on his fall tour this weekend, check out the Jason Mraz tour dates to see if he’s coming to a city near you.
