Bruce Springsteen is back in England and doing some of his favorite music. That is to say, he’s not actually doing other people’s favorite music of his, but instead the music that he enjoys playing. Springsteen will be playing his own music with the E Street Band in some upcoming concerts. But for now, he’s bringing in some of his favorite cover versions of great songs. There were a couple of weak songs in this Hyde Park show, but by and large many people really liked it. It even included a version of a Stephen Foster song! It’s not usual to have a major performer playing concerts solely of music that isn’t his. It will be fun to hear more of this kind of music; there are also some rumors that he might record a record like this, but there isn’t a lot of information about that yet. Check into it if you can!

With the world changing in many ways, the world of Kim and Reggie Harris is one in which people can really reflect on things, remembering the way things were and expressing the hope for the future. These are two of the best folk musicians around now and they are able to make everyone interested in their brand. They perform for normal concerts, but one of their specialties is performing for school groups with their shows/presentations on the music of the underground railroad. This is a great service to the community and also a lot of fun for people. The Harrises are so talented and entertaining that we can have a lot of fun listening to them, while they tell stories and sing great songs of hope and freedom.

If you are a fan of fun folk and country music, you could well be a fan of the Teflons. You might not have heard of them, and they’re relatively new on the scene. But they are some of the biggest names in folk music of the last 30 or 40 years. And now they’ve teamed up to make some of the best music. When you are looking for friendly faces onstage and a lot of entertaining music, these are a great bet. They sing songs from a variety of different genres as well, from folk to country, to swing and even a bit of Hawaiian thrown in on occasion. We really enjoy their music, which we only just heard this weekend. But talking with friends who listen to this kind of music frequently, they are not only great musicians, but they put on a good show.

Moby has released a new album which is one of the best he’s ever done. Play is one of the most well-known, including a lot of music that you can hear in clubs and tv spots and everything. But he doesn’t like his previous style that much anymore, so he moved to a more bluesy sound than he had before. It’s a well done album, even though he was a little bit nervous about his departure from previous endeavors. Go out and buy it and you will enjoy a lot of fun music that really conveys great emotion!

Bob Bogle, one of the founding members of the Ventures, passed away this weekend at the age of 75. It’s very sad, because he was such a talented musician and with that band, he was even better. It seemed like the perfect place for him to be, where he could show off his own talents well in a way that other people would also enjoy. He also melded well with Don Wilson and other members of the group. He became ill over the weekend and passed rather suddenly. But his talents were great and we will be listening to his music this week in memory of him.

Michael Jackson is now being accused of breaking a contract this summer. He was supposed to perform in a reunion concert this summer and not perform anywhere else for three months before and after the event. But if you’ll remember, he has a “last time” concert scheduled at the O2 Arena in London. These performances are highly anticipated in London, because Jackson hasn’t been there for a long time and people are wondering what his music will sound like now. At the same time, this pending litigation could mess up his performances or delay them. How do you think that he should resolve it? Perhaps he shouldn’t have put himself down for performances against a current contract? This will be resolved in the next couple of weeks, because all of these concerts will happen very soon!

One of the biggest concert venues in the west is Cowboys Stadium. It’s always quite nice to have information about the acoustics of the places that you go to when you see a concert. Unfortunately, the new Cowboys Stadium has a lot of poor acoustics at the moment and we want to make sure that you know that right now before there are any problems. At the same time, you should also know that the Cowboys Stadium managers are going to make some changes to make sure that the acoustics improve. Since it’s so new, it’s hard for them to know beforehand if the acoustics are going to be good with a full band, speakers and several thousand people to hear the concert. So we’ll keep an eye on the developments and let you know!

24 years ago, Polka was introduced as a Grammy category. Today it was eliminated from that competition. The problem is, apparently, that the number of albums being considered was getting lower and lower in recent years. Since there were about 20 entries last year, they decided that it wasn’t even competitive enough to make it worthwhile. Meanwhile, there are a lot of good polka bands, according to this article, but they aren’t entering as often and it’s not as popular as it would have been back in the mid 80s. Plus, one of the competitors won the award 17 times or something like that so it was hardly a competition anymore.

The newest Fleetwood Mac show is an interesting one. They don’t have a new album coming out anytime soon, nor do they have a long range world tour on the horizon, so the new concerts have some trouble gaining focus. The performers that are still with the band are decent, but they aren’t as great as they used to be. At the same time, it’s quite entertaining to hear them play their old songs just as they used to be. Their favorite songs are still there and people really like to hear the band themselves play their games again. When you want to see a new show by them, they are touring a little bit this year. Just don’t expect much in the way of new songs!
