British pop diva sweeps Grammys
Feb 13, 2008
Amy Winehouse, the British pop singer, ran away with five Grammys in the recently concluded Grammy award function on Sunday. Amy was in the wrong side of the news last year when she was filmed at a private party smoking crack cocaine. Amy Winehouse took time off from her rehab center in London to perform for the Grammys via a London recording studio which was recreated as a cabaret. The performance of Amy was captured live via satellite and the audience was able to see her perform live on the big screens at the Grammy Awards function.
Amy Winehouse did not go to Los Angeles to participate in the Grammy Awards as she was on drug treatment and she also had problems acquiring a US work visa. Amy performed her hit song “Rehab” and an equally successful and personal song “You Know I’m No Good” for the Grammy Awards audience. Amy Winehouse created history at the Grammys by sweeping atop four Grammy awards. She won the Grammy Award for the Best Song of the Year for her runaway hit song “Rehab”, Best New Artist Award, Best Record of the Year, Female Pop Vocal Solo Performance and Pop Vocal Album for “Black To Black”.
