Christmas in Radio City

The Radio City Christmas Spectacular is now into its 7th decade of performing.  Every year, there are quite a few performances of this popular show, which feature a whole pile of dancers and many singers. We can enjoy hearing their music every year.  People come to see this show in large numbers.  The music includes some traditional songs and Christmas themes (like the Nutcracker) and also some new original songs written for the show. Don’t forget the Rockettes, though, they are considered some of the biggest stars of the show.  Lots of people say that it is fun for the whole family and a great way to kick off the Christmas season.

David Sedaris

David Sedaris’ new book is one of his most popular and best yet.  It has been at the top of the best seller lists for weeks at a time. In libraries, it’s hard to get in the line to get the book, in one of those rare moments that it’s actually available.  His newest book is fun and hilarious and also very touching, in a way. Sedaris is on tour right now, reading passages from his book and talking about it, telling stories and just giving everyone a generally good time.  It’s a fun show and you should see it if you can!

Gener travelling without Deaner

The Gene Ween Band will be going on a mini tour here at the onset of winter. Gene, one half of the try-any-genre band Ween, and his band members will be touring the Northeast of America from the 10-18th of December, with more tour dates to be added soon. Even though he may be without his Deaner, expect the same time of energy and humor that is omnipresent in any Ween-related show. Learn more by visiting their official website ween.com.

Chesney ok and touring

After his injury during a concert earlier this year, and his outburst on television about the ACM Awards Show, Kenny Chesney is ok and is still touring.  He got hurt when his shoe got caught in an hydraulic lift and he injured his leg and foot.  He is still able to walk and everything, it’s just going to hurt him for awhile.  He also objected to the ACM Awards this year, because the choice had been changed to reflect a fan choice, rather than some other kind of more objective way.  He didn’t win, but he was respected for the guts to speak up.  on October 14th he released a new album, Lucky Old Sun which has been rated well by many critics.  So after a rough year, Chesney still seems to be ok.

Dion Tour

Celine Dion is on tour again. The tour is called the “Taking Chances Tour” which takes her to many venues throughout the US and other parts of the world.  Dion has been making music for many years now, starting in 1988 when she won the Eurovision Song Contest.  In 1990 she released her first album and from there it’s just gone up and up. She is a singer, actress, and songwriter.  Her music is influenced by genres as far flung as R&B to rock, gospel to classical.  People turn out in droves to hear her sing her famous songs in the way that only she can.  If you get the chance, I would certainly recommend seeing this world famous singer in person!

The title may be misleading. Their tour is nearly at an end. As far as the band goes, they are getting along quite swimmingly. But as far as the year 2008 goes, there is only a handful of opportunities to go and see the Stone Temple Pilots live. After an extensive summer tour that took them to every nook and cranny in the United States, STP is finishing up with a slew of shows in the southern states. The one-man band from France, M83, took the name from a galaxy. The band falls under the shoegaze genre, but focuses more on electronics than guitar.
